Curriculum Structure

Sacred Heart School is committed to providing a curriculum which will ensure the intellectual, social, physical, aesthetic and moral development of all students.

Sacred Heart focuses on engaging students in vibrant, creative learning experiences that develop inquiring minds and equips them with knowledge and skills for a life beyond the classroom.

Learning and Teaching begins with the needs of the individual child and works towards developing their potential as lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

The prescribed curriculum is used to frame learning that is responsive to the children’s needs, to the context of our school and to the wider community.

The Curriculum includes, but is not limited to:

  • Religious Education
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Humanities (History, Geography, Economics)
  • L.O.T.E (Italian)
  • Physical Education
  • Science
  • The Arts (Music, Visual & Performing Arts)
  • Technology (Information & Design)

Curriculum content is used as a means of developing children who are able to think deeply and critically and learn with and from others in an ever-changing world.

Contemporary learning tools such as tablets, laptop computers, interactive whiteboards and internet resources are used to extend students’ thinking and take their learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
